22 weeks 4 days Dr. visit

Today was my 22 week visit. As you know at my last visit we had an ultrasound and normally would not be scheduled for another one until the 3rd trimester. Lucky for me the machine ate my DVD recording of the ultrasound last time so I got to have another ultrasound today. This time I took my mom with me. This was her first time ever to see an ultrasound since they didn't do them back when she was pregnant with me or my sister. It was amazing! We are so lucky to have a son.

As for me the doctor said my weight and blood pressure was fine, and she measured my belly for the first time. I forgot to ask what the exact measurement was but she said it was good too. I asked her about the flu shot and the H1N1 shot. She said that I should get the flu shot today (which I did), and that the H1N1 shot was not available yet but could be in October. My mother asked if it was safe. She said that she believed it was if the CDC recommended it. She also gave me an informational handout on the H1N1 virus and told me to call if I experienced flu like symptoms or if I was in contact with anyone who had the flu.

There aren't words to express my joy when I was with my firstborn, Alana, watching her firstborn "to be" on the ultra sound. The nurse was perfect- the baby was perfect, and of course Alana was perfect- allowing me to squeeze her hand and cry and oh my. She was so brave about her flu shot- all for the good of her son.
